Canvas Remix

Alisa Burke has written a book titled “Canvas Remix” inspiring my most recent art. I had an unadorned canvas bag I ripped up to use just the canvas. Primed with gesso, I painted, stamped, stenciled and wrote on the canvas. Then I ripped it into strips and eventually cut it down into small pieces to adhere to shadow box frames, wooden boxes and picture frames. The rough texture is an interesting contrast to the bright colors and other additions on these pieces.

On one of the frames and on the black keepsake box, I painted and added a Julie Nutting chipboard girl now available from Leaky Shed Studio. The stars on the keepsake box were cut freehand from cardboard, painted white and covered with mica flakes. I hope you enjoy these as much as I enjoyed creating them, and thanks to Alisa for the inspiration!
